Working on your first scholarly book proposal?

Need big-picture guidance on your latest draft?

Or are your book proofs on the way?

If so, I’m here to help!

I create back-of-the-book indexes for scholarly monographs and edited collections. In addition, I review and edit academic manuscripts for publishers as well as for authors, from journal articles and proposals to book-length projects. I also provide DE&I content reviews and proofreading services.

Contact me at morgan@blueindexing.com at any point in the publishing process.

My name is Morgan Genevieve Blue (she/her), and I launched BLUE Indexing & Editorial Services from my home in Indiana in 2018. I offer indexing, proofreading, and developmental editing services and have worked as a freelance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEI&J) content reviewer for higher education publishing since 2020.

I specialize in alphabetical back-of-the-book indexes for academic texts in the humanities, with clients working primarily in the fields of media studies, gender studies, childhood studies, and cultural studies.

My work includes building indexes for the texts displayed on this site, among many others. Since 2019, I also have had the pleasure of indexing a variety of scholarly social justice titles for Ideas on Fire. These experiences, along with training from the American Society for Indexing have given me the tools to accurately and comprehensively locate, expand upon, and cross-reference the terms readers will find most useful.

As a developmental editor and proofreader, I also assist academic authors as they revise manuscripts, prepare book proposals, and finalize dissertations.
